At present, the general LED household germicidal light has a wavelength of 240-280nm, which belongs to the short-wavelength UVA band. This band has a strong ultraviolet penetration ability and can penetrate most transparent glass and plastics. UVA can also reach the dermis of the skin, destroy elastic fibers and collagen fibers, and tan the skin. Because the human body cannot accept a large amount of ultraviolet radiation. However, experts say that as long as it is not exposed for a long time, there is no need to worry.
The ultraviolet light of LED household germicidal light has a short wavelength and has a greater impact on the human body. Experts suggest that when using LED household germicidal light, there should be no people in the room, and the disinfection time is 30 minutes to 1 hour; avoid looking directly at the light source; households must wear protective glasses or sunglasses when operating the LED household germicidal light.

Generally, the lamps of LED household germicidal light are made of quartz glass, because quartz glass has a high transmittance of 80%-90% to various wavelengths of ultraviolet rays, which is the best material for making germicidal lamps. Due to the difference in cost and usage, high borax glass tubes with an ultraviolet transmittance of <50% can also be used instead of quartz glass. The production process of high boron glass is the same as that of energy-saving lamps, so the cost is very low, but its performance is far inferior to the LED household germicidal light made of quartz glass tube, and its sterilization effect is quite different. There is also a kind of ordinary glass with higher ultraviolet light transmission, which is much higher than high boron glass and slightly lower than quartz glass. The light decay is still greater than that of quartz LED household germicidal light, and it cannot produce ozone.
